Getting paid online with Stripe

Connect Stripe, payment methods, fees, payouts and refunds.

Connect your own Stripe account and clients can pay invoices and deposits online. The money goes straight to your Stripe account.

  1. Go to Settings → Payments and choose Connect Stripe.
  2. Stripe asks for your business and bank details. It can take a few minutes, sometimes a day or two to verify.
  3. Once it says Ready to take card payments, invoices get a Pay online button, in the email and on the client's page.

How clients can pay

  • Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay: paid straight away.
  • US bank debit (ACH) and Canadian pre-authorized debit: these take about 3–5 business days to clear. The invoice shows as paid once they do.
  • Clients can save their card so recurring invoices are charged automatically.

Fees and payouts

Stripe takes its processing fee from each payment, and Gettled takes 0.5%. Stripe pays out your balance to your bank on its schedule. See your balance and recent payouts in Settings → Payments.

Refunds

On the invoice, choose Refund next to an online payment. The full amount goes back to the client, and the invoice's balance goes back up. For a partial refund, use your Stripe dashboard.
